LaFontaine, Ernest "Ernie" A., 84, died peacefully at Kent Hospital on September 2, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of M. Patricia (Duchaine) LaFontaine. He was born in Pawtucket, the son of the late Edmore A. and Mary Azilda (Havey) LaFontaine.
He was the owner of LaFontaine Maintenance Inc. for many years before retiring. He was a WWII veteran serving in the US Navy in the Pacific Theater.
Besides his wife of 62 years, he is survived by his loving daughter Kimberly Sliney of Exeter, and his devoted grandson Tyler P. Sliney. He was the brother of Edna Spelman , Claire Spatcher and Philip LaFontaine all of Warwick and several loving and caring nieces, nephews and friends. He was the brother of the late Edward, John and William LaFontaine and Doris Payne.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9AM from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, RI. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10AM in St. Martha's Church, 2595 Pawtucket Ave., East Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5-8PM.
