Tavares, John J., 54, of Back St., died peacefully on September 4, 2010, at Sturdy Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Ana P. (DeCarmo) Tavares. Born in Attleboro, MA, he was the son of the late John Julio and Belmira (Cabral) Tavares.
He was working as a certified air craft specialist for the FAA until present. He was a retired Chief Master Sgt of the US Air Force and was activated during Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom.
Besides his wife of 24 years, he is survived by his children Meagan M. Tavares and Daniel J. Tavares of Seekonk. He is survived by his sister Ana Tavares Fesmier of CO, his stepmother Teresa Tavares of Attleboro, MA, his mother-in-law Judith DeCarmo of Fall River, MA. He is survived by his nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and many friends.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901, Broadway, East Providence, RI. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Taunton, Ave. Seekonk. Burial with military honors will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery in Attleboro. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5-8 PM.
